Sorry mate i play less because since now 2 weeks i lag as hell.
I can't play.

my ping is near 0, i have no choke, no loss on E=mc² servers. my fps is sometimes good, sometimes crap however I have a good GPU for that game (7800GT).

yesterday i thought have solved the problem : wireless. because i have bad neightbours... but today i have bought a RJ45 cable and same.

In fact my game is smooth only during the night, very late. Perhaps my connection sucks (i have 20mb on paper, 12 mb on test...)

this game or my pc is a shit.

Lol, I have 5mb on paper, no lag whatsoever:)..
If u had inet problems, or router problems - your ping would show this.. the problem must lie in your computer... try re-installing HL2DM (It will not take THAT long:)), or, maybe, windows.. I dont know...

Hmmm Cynyx. I think we tested also by switching off wireless on router modem. Need to test in peak. We compared frame rates, varies according to props on screen. Anyone else have this issue? Frame rate creeps up to 250 mark onscreen and can drop as low as 70. Changing fps_rate seems to create an in-game fram rate of less than half that value.

I do not think I have lag issues. You should disable cool'n'quiet for AMD in bios and also remove the supporting software for this. I remember have severe lag on unreal and other games with cool'n'quiet...

i think i have finally solve my lag problem :

sum of all problems i think :

-> wireless router pertubated by neighbours (i play with cable now)
-> dual core update for XP (i have installed WinXPdualcorehotfix)
-> swap file in XP : i have allways a size fixed swap file but seems to be too little. (3gb of swap file now)
->update my GPU driver. I have Nvidia 7900 ... and on nvidia official website the last drivers for 7900 is 97.XX and not 158.22 (reserved for 8800 and co and return when i tried to install your card is not supported) but i have installed an another version 160.02... my fps is twice higher now.

with that card you should be getting 100-200 constant

what screen settings you running at?

when a server is full i lag. The best lag example was our last war with DTS. Horrible for me.
In local, i have 150-200 fps , yes it's true. but not in game. i play with 1024*1280 ... but change resolution don't solve anything. I have reinstalled windows 1 month ago. All my drivers are updated. I have removed wireless. I think it's a question relative of my network quality ... and i can't do anything for that.

What in game rates you use?

Also check drivers (video drivers) newest isnt always best

Personally i would maybe chose these drivers for you
If you dont like those ones there are other great drivers on there...

remember to remove them 100% the correct way tho or you'll have issues :P

In fact, I change my rates when i change server.
Mostly case i play with 67/22 - 30000. But i have tried ALL settings i can.

I will try others drivers...

When i see some of my old screenshots, i'm jalous of me^^... because since 2 months i'm unabled to make same with shitty performances.

bring up a cmd window

tracert (your server IP without PORT)

see if theres any loss of high pings along your way there...

Try using

rate 20000 - 25000
cl_cmdrate 30 - 67
cl_updaterate 10 -20

I have used the traceroute from HLSW ...
And all is fine with my servers in french (more of than i use fastpath so i'm linked directly to them 8)).

Some exception for the server i rent from gameservers.com : some nodes from USA ... in order to link england logical for a US entreprise... but but for performances.

If you run on a full server with the following rates and still have problems its your ISP

rate 25000
cl_cmdrate 30
cl_updaterate 20
