Connection problems

Every once in a while I get the "failed to connect" message when I attempt to launch steam. Reinstalling the application solves the problem, but is there an easier way to do it? I'm using a router btw, and on the valve support site they claim that you can't connect to steam network if you're using a router - well I can :hmmm:

In past, i played too though a router. No problem for me. Just need to disable DMZ zone on the router.
It's strange a new installation of steam solved the problem.

have u tried thediagnostic tool integrated in steam : steam://support/?Issues=Connection*
Usefull to check if there is a problem to connect to steam networks...

The following ports must be reachable :
UDP Port: 27000 - 27040
TCP Port: 27020 - 27040

You cant play on steam with a router? :zombie: They should have told me 2 years ago, when I installed mine... I would know that I am breaking a law of nature by playing on it..
