Hello again :D

Post by KoRn »

Hi guys, not been here for a while.
Coping with some serious health and private problems the last years i kept myself a bit in the background.
But i didn´t leave the DM community ,imo HL2DM is still worth to be played and i still watch the communities activities and players.

Well, mainly i just wanted to drop a short note about EMC² webpresence that maybe could need some updating.

- history of EMC² ends june 2009?
- does EMC² still participates in Battlefield 2142? Or is the server now L4D?
- is the memberlist really up to date or are there a lot of members which aren´t active anymore?
- best regards: DARKIUSMAXIMUS joined EMC² already (mentioned under no clan?)
I think this is not that important but the clanlist is also a bit outdated...some clans even don´t exist anymore
- after pressing the webmailbutton i get an error: secure connection failed,mail.emc2-clan.com uses invalid security certificate?

Please get me right ,i´m not here for complaining ,just wanted to support keeping the site up 2 date, the clan is worth it imo.

I´m glad EMC² still exists (although some former members don´t show up much) but just because of that the clan could need some more presence and activities.

If i can help in some way just ask me,i still got some time to invest into some useful things.
Some may say i should join the clan to do so,but i still have some bad experiences in mind that keep me from joining a clan.
But if someone here has troubles like with pc,networking, steam, etc. ill surely try to help.
Just add me in friends

Hello Korn,
KoRn wrote: - history of EMC² ends june 2009?
i update these pages when there is an event ... so yes it's possible there is no event in clan since june.
KoRn wrote: - does EMC² still participates in Battlefield 2142?
nope.
KoRn wrote: Or is the server now L4D?
Battlefield 2142 server had no link with actual L4D server, but we still have, for the moment the L4D server.
KoRn wrote: - is the memberlist really up to date or are there a lot of members which aren´t active anymore?
Member list is really up to date but it's true most of members are not active now.
KoRn wrote: - best regards: DARKIUSMAXIMUS joined EMC² already (mentioned under no clan?)

This page is totaly outdated, and you are right perhaps need to be removed.
KoRn wrote: - after pressing the webmailbutton i get an error: secure connection failed,mail.emc2-clan.com uses invalid security certificate?
It's not an error. Just the certificate is not valide anymore. But if you accept it even that, you will find a login page totaly useless when you don't have an email in @emc2-clan.com.
KoRn wrote: Please get me right ,i´m not here for complaining ,just wanted to support keeping the site up 2 date, the clan is worth it imo.
thanks and I will update website later from your some suggestions.
KoRn wrote: I´m glad EMC² still exists (although some former members don´t show up much) but just because of that the clan could need some more presence and activities.
This is the main problem in the clan since the beggining : inactivity ... Game inactivity, but also forum is not really used. The progressively death of HL2DM doens't help.
KoRn wrote: If i can help in some way just ask me,i still got some time to invest into some useful things.
We can't accept help from someone not in clan for working about the clan, but thanks anyway.
KoRn wrote: Some may say i should join the clan to do so,but i still have some bad experiences in mind that keep me from joining a clan.
I know that since long time now.
KoRn wrote: But if someone here has troubles like with pc,networking, steam, etc. ill surely try to help.
Sure some people will enjoy this propal.

Cool...replys after 1 day,i´m impressed somehow :)
Nice reaction Cynyx,i appreciate it.

Concerning the deleting of players out of my friends...well,it´s quite simple i think.

a) If people are inactive (in DM) for a certain period of time i take them out of friends to keep an better overview on the rest (also i´m not a fan of huge friends lists, huge amouts of data confuse me somehow).
b) I delete players if they start to behave bad too,but that doesn´t happen that much.

Players can be added in no time so this should not be a problem (although some players abuse it (not EMC² related)).

I think you removed me since long time now, I don't know the reason, but certainly mean this invitation is not for me but for other people
Of course this is for you too Cynyx...

The reason i took you out of friends is mainly related to some disappointment about:

- your obvious negative reaction on the HL2DM game quite often
(complaining about the game a lot...was like someone is complaining about the sun not shining all day).
- your statement to leave the game and then still showing up to play while your steam id showed ("inactive in hl2dm") ???
- my hope to get some useful tips from you to improve my skills, but after asking u about that you didn´t seem to care much most of the time

But on the other hand you are a good player who inspired me a lot to play DM and also to use crossbow.
I felt quite bad when u said u leave the game.

Anyway ...I´m sorry if someone feels bad about me taking him out of friends,i hope you can understand my point of view better now.

Off course you are not the first to say or think that about me (Vercetti, Fede, Kio, Fire and Darkius are in the list :)) One more in the list in fact !
Allways same explanation :
I think I'm enough skilled in that game to know when i aim good or not.
Just remember a thing, think about how my xbow and mag shoots were 1 year ago compared to the last times I played with you. Just till now nobody able to explain to me why nade explosion aren't like 1 year ago, why in lockdown I can be killed when I'm behind walls and why objects moves randomly and can't be catch as before... 1-2 year ago, I think I never complained even if I died ... Just, in my point of view, something has changed in that game. (some people can argue it's because I become old and that's why year after year I become more and more crap lol).

Yep, I assume,it can iritate, and it's a really good reason to remove me of a friends list, and I know it.
KoRn wrote: - your statement to leave the game and then still showing up to play while your steam id showed ("inactive in hl2dm") ???
Now I think it's real ... I haven't launched HL2DM since at least 3 months, and i think I'm not active since at least 6-8 months (make less than 500 frags a week = not be active for me).
KoRn wrote: But on the other hand you are a good player who inspired me a lot to play DM and also to use crossbow.
KoRn wrote: I felt quite bad when u said u leave the game.
thanks for this nice comments but... that's why u removed me from your friend list just !!! LMAO.
Also, personaly, I feel bad when you try to prove I'm a unfair player because : I have a bind for jump on space and a bind for jump on scroll mouse... (nothing related to a script, nothing hidden and it's even a part of my advice) However, this feeling was nothing compared to seeing you playing with very bad net settings or some days when you can make totaly random xbow perfect shots. I think I have allways tried to fight unfair people, and I want to believe most players think apart you than I play fair. As admin, I know you haven't played fair sometimes.
KoRn wrote: - my hope to get some useful tips from you to improve my skills, but after asking u about that you didn´t seem to care much most of the time
Sinceraly, I don't remember u asked me something... It's perhaps my fault to forget, it's perhaps also your fault to not remember to me :) Also, I can say to you 2 nice tips  :
1) have 2 keys for jumping, so in function of the action, you can jump in another way
2) bind jump on the scroll mouse : in that's way bhop timing can be found easier, it will not make you imediatly a bhop master, it's just an help, but usefull :P
KoRn wrote: a) If people are inactive (in DM) for a certain period of time i take them out of friends
We have'nt the same philosophy a the friends list so I don't understand your point of view ... Some people in my friendlist are more than simple players in DM ... I though you should be that kind of people before you removed me of your friend list.
KoRn wrote: Anyway ...I´m sorry if someone feels bad about me taking him out of friends,i hope you can understand my point of view better now.
So if I sum up: I will not be active in HL2DM anymore, so it's useless I add you because you will remove me in the next days. There is no problem for that, I'm even happy to know the reasons why you removed me and why you will not add me again : not totally because you think I'm a bad guy but just because I'm not active in HL2DM

Because this information is not only for you but for all people that can read the forum I have to say a "few" words about your last post,Cynyx (using quotes is quite new for me & makes my post look huge...)
Also, personaly, I feel bad when you try to prove I'm a unfair player because : I have a bind for jump on space and a bind for jump on scroll mouse... (nothing related to a script, nothing hidden and it's even a part of my advice)
I think I have allways tried to fight unfair people, and I want to believe most players think apart you than I play fair.
1) Wheeljump is not allowed in most leagues because it gives an unfair advantage:

- it messes up hit registration more as manual jumping ,the hitboxes can´t follow the player model exactly,
players using this often get pushed away with less damage instead of taking higher damage
- it is an automated process which is equal to a script because noone can push jump key that fast while fighting
- it enables excessive preservations of aux power which almost aren´t possible with normal jumping,
this allows continous bunny hopping movement including much fast changes of direction with less aux power
- a player using it doesn´t have to think about the timing of his jumps, more time to aim while in midair e.g.

I told you that and you have enough experience to notice that yourself on other players.
My comment wasn´t really serious then,it was more some sort of joking around but u unfortunately didn´t get the point.
However, this feeling was nothing compared to seeing you playing with very bad net settings or some days when you can make totaly random xbow perfect shots.
You are not the only one who can frag with an xbow you know.
If i have a good day i can do insane xbow shots just because it is one of my favourite weapons.
I don´t need any special settings for that, stock settings will do.
As admin, I know you haven't played fair sometimes.
U said u looked at my client settings and some sort of admin tool marked some of them with "*" as unfair.
It would be helpful of you to post what settings were marked before claiming such things in public !
I guess the settings u are talking of were not even active in steam anymore (or/and even completely in a legal range).
Like cl_interp does changes the scoreboard ping but is in fact disabled and does nothing else (replaced with cl_interp_ratio).

Netsettings are there to adapt client connection ,that´s why they are implemented in the game and adjustable to some degree.
Forums are full of tips about netsettings so i just tested some of them because everyone normally tries to make the best out of his online connection,so did i.
It was never my intention to cheat or gain an unfair advantage.

I must admit that i did use a bunnyhop script some time in the beginning after i just started online gaming around 2003.
The CS clan admin back then gave script packs to all members (which were noobs actually) and almost everyone we had contact with used them (basically weapon buy scripts to buy weapons faster after respawn, chat message scripts and duckjump) and i didn´t ever had the feeling of gaining an unfair advantage.
After starting HL2DM and quitting CS i only had the duckjump script left which i deleted immediately after one admin kicked me because of that and also i was skilled enough to perform it manually now.

The only "cheat" (if you want to call it like that) is a custom crosshair.
Would be useless to play the game for me because i couldn´t see the dots in the xhair for shit.
This probably makes me aim better but i still have to jump and aim manually ,key for key.

I used a netsettings script for some time which changes the rates (in legal ranges) out of a list of mayb 8 combinations of cmdrate, updaterate and rate just by repeatingly pressing a defined key if the server or connection is bad e.g.
But its useless because it makes no difference for me.

The only script left is my script to change netgraph 1,2,3 on or off (yes this is a script too but it does nothing illegal).
thanks for this nice comments but... that's why u removed me from your friend list just !!! LMAO.
Why LMAO? I told u three reasons prior to this and on the first reason u already replied:
Yep, I assume,it can iritate, and it's a really good reason to remove me of a friends list, and I know it.
Following statement of me was meant to be a additional information & compliment on your person and has nothing to do with removing u from friends:
But on the other hand you are a good player who inspired me a lot to play DM and also to use crossbow.
I felt quite bad when u said u leave the game.
About removing you from friends:
We have'nt the same philosophy a the friends list so I don't understand your point of view ... Some people in my friendlist are more than simple players in DM ... I though you should be that kind of people before you removed me of your friend list.
You are trying to say u were disappointed because I removed you,did i get it right ?

You actually have 167 "friends" in your list ,this quite obviously seems a bit like quantity over quality.
Imo friends lists with that much "friends" are worthless.
I could have half the world in my friends if it would be possible but I also want to have some contact with them.
If i had 167 ppl in it i would have to spend my whole lifetime chatting with them and keeping in touch.

Now...that was a post.

I need some beer now :D

Ive got fully standard bind settings....really not sure how scoll jump makes it better or worse. Wouldnt it be the same as quickly tapping spacebar?

I think one of the biggest challenges in game is mastering the timing of bunnyhop while playing.
But it is ok if you are not able to perform it good the regular way ,perhaps u will learn sometime.
And you don´t play matches? Wtf do u call playing on a pub server then ? :upset:

Ah,and btw. : chew on my toenails mate, ill own u anyway ^_^ :-P

I srsly doubt anyone is able to tap spacebar that quick, precisely and often like with mousewheel while performing other fast actions in game :hmmm:
Hey KIO,u really use standard bind settings :omg: on which planet do u live man :zombie:

I am an individual being, so i have "bind MOUSE4 voicechat" in L4D/TF2... and im pretty much happy with "wasd" for running and SPACE for jumping, coz ive spent half of my life playing with those buttons... and i really doubt u can get significant results from a fair use of any binds. I mean, my little finger does get tired tapping Ctrl sometimes, but I do think binding jump+crouch is unfair, coz they are two separate actions. As for the bunnyhop - i can manage three hops with the spacebar, but then I dont like doing it, coz it makes the game too repetitive and mechanical. I like interactivity and improvisation, and "custom" binds are to ease the grinding.
Oh and I do have custom crosshair, a green one.

I respect u anyway,mousewheelhopping or not.
It is not the use of mouswheelehop actually that i have a problem with it is the consequences that players using this a lot nearly get "unfraggable" with that, they often just get pushed around after a hit like i wrote.

..thought matching was any kind of competitive gaming, but i guess the game isn´t that competitive for all

..hey, nice ...u like my toenails ?
I could send some of them to u by express so they don´t loose their spicy flavour
(if i would wash my feet b4 they only would taste like soap, that would be kind of boring don´t u think?)
