- Well, according to Google, there are 65.5 Million people using the Internet in Germany.
- According to some Yahoo site - there are 20 major Internet Providers in Germany.
- Lets say each company employs 10 000 people (which is unlikely and is much less).
- Lets say of the 200 000 people, half are useless sales managers and half are IT managers.
- So, 100 000 people who have access to the internet logs, add extra 50 000 of government spies (unlikely), and 50 000 copyright agents (veeeeery unlikely)
- So, for 65 500 000 people using internet, there are 200 000 people controlling the internet.
- So, each internet controller, apart from doing his other jobs, has to watch over 330 people
- According to various sources, including a mini-research a google-answers manager guy did in 2006, a person visits 150 pages a day on average (more than that now in 2010 for sure)
- Each internet controller has to read/scan logs of 50 000 pages visited a day
- And, without a clear way to distinguish between pirate sites and non-pirate sites, or if you actually visit them or they pop up, you see where I am going with this...
Or, another view:
- According to "ifpi news" site, during 2004, 6 Million people downloaded illegal music (much more than that im sure)
- Lets say, 10 Million people have used pirate services at least once in Germany, so, approximately one in seven people using the internet are pirates.
- According to a report in 2004, there are 200 000 police officers in Germany in total.
- Given that they also fight crimes, they would take quite a while to arrest or talk to 10 000 000 pirates... 50 pirates per policeman
Or, even other views:
- Torrent downloads are impossible to track, unless you know the content exactly since you are downloading tiny pieces from hundreds of different users
- "Illegal" spreading of media can also involve emails and visits to friends.
- Average of 70 emails per user per day gives an additional 25 000 emails per day for each of the internet controller to read...
- Your IP probably changes a couple of times a year, so this means The Big Brother has to update up to 65.5 million registry values for each user every couple of months
- This includes retracing all of your logs, also taking into account that you have NOT moved houses or changed Internet Provider, or watched porn in McDonalds.
- It usually takes a copyright owner to claim that his product is being pirated until something starts being done, otherwise there is no proof any sharing is illegal.
These are some of the reasons piracy is unstoppable...
